M.I.L.K. Licencing (Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship) has announced and launched a photographic competition with a prize fund totaling $125,000. This global contest, which has reportedly been inspired by the Family of Man exhibition is to be judged by Elliot Erwitt.
To quote the judging criteria & process...
“We are seeking outstanding images that capture authentic, spontaneous and humorous moments shared between friends, families and lovers around the world. The judges will select images on the basis of the following:
• Images that celebrate friendship, family and love.
• Images that tell stories and convey real emotion.
• Images that evoke a humorous response.
• Technical quality.Judging will be based on the judging criteria and will take place in two stages:
Stage 1
The ultimate use of the winning entries is book publication and associated licensed products. For that reason, the panel for Stage 1 is made up of two experienced international book publishers, Geoff Blackwell (CEO and Publisher of PQ Blackwell) and Ruth Hobday (Editor in Chief of PQ Blackwell), together with photo editor and historian Don Neely, and independent photographer Jacqui Blanchard. They will review all entries against the judging criteria for the competition in order to select 150 general winners that move forward to Stage 2.
Stage 2
The Chief Judge, Elliott Erwitt, will select the Grand Prize winner from the 150 images chosen by the panel in Stage 1.
The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.”
The competition is open to anyone globaly. The winner will be chosen form a final shortlist of 150 image entries.
Each of the 150 chosen images will be included in the ‘Fresh M.I.L.K. publication due for release in autumn of 2009. By submitting images, you are agreeing to a non-exclusive use licence where you will retain copyright.
