Bloggers & Friends
Sally Kettle A dear friend of ours. And not a bad photographer either ;-)
Chase Jarvis An excellent advertising photographer in the US who seems to hold a great deal of the same values and approaches we at Ginkgo have...
Squeeze the LIME is up, live and starting to post... 'Huh - what you talkin'bout?'
I got strong-armed into signing up with Facebook recently - and to actually use it too. No idea why, but it keeps them happy and more importantly, quiet, so I go along with it.
Whilst looking around trying to figure out what hell all this 'stuff' was that people were doing on there - and why?! I found a group called LIME. Didn't seem to give much away, but I thought I'd join to see what it was going to turn out to be. Along with the other 460 users.
And today they very kindly send me a message letting me know that they had gone live. So I felt it would be rude not to actually find out what I had been waiting for and headed over to their site.
Read on, there's more...

And it would seem that yet another professional photographer is keen to give back to the enthusiast community. We're a good bunch really aren't we?!
Well, actually, it's two professional photographers - and they make up LIME.
Between videos of the actual shoot itself with commentary (thankfully somewhat edited dow to the important bits), a model that the lens really seems to like, accompanied by a Flickr set of images plus other supporting material. It looks like this may very well build up into a nice and useful resource for photographers of all levels.
The main thing that is very' missing at the moment is the post-processing work that has been carried out to get the shots he is showing from the tutorial/insight. There is just no way that those shots came straight from the camera and the technique of what you do with them after the shoot is just as important these days as the technique you employed during the shoot. I can say that with almost certainty as some are B&W (IR effect almost).
Whatever your skill level or speciality of interest - This is certainly worth a look.
Yes it's a marketing tool for them and their business - But so what if you get something out of it...
Just coz you know how to do something - it doesn't mean that there can't be someone else better than you at doing it - And if they happen not to be better than you - Then why not help them?
For a first effort, this is pretty good and their style looks like as time goes by and they feel more comfortable in front of the lens, than behind it, we should see some entertaining and very useful videos/content.
If this kind of material turns out to be right up your street, I'd also recommend Chase Jarvis' blog and a guy called Deke (featured in this blog before here) - who's a little bit of a photoshop whiz - and, well, a little bit mad...
So, take a look and decide for yourself. Then add them to the arsenal of other information sites you have.

Thanks for plugging our LIME project.
We are certainly planning on doing things around post processing. It may come as a surprise but most of my pictures spent only a few seconds in Lightroom and even fewer seconds in Photoshop.
No worries - I thinks it's great that more and more of us are prepared to really give back to the community and share our knowledge and experience.
I see you have a couple of new videos too which look really good - Was the video shot on a 5DMkII out of interest?
As far as the post processing goes - I appreciate that there may not have been a great deal done - it's just for the newbies out there, what we would consider very simple and just small tweaks can often be what they spend weeks trying to find out.
So it wasn't a criticism - far from it - just an addition I personally thought would complete it, if you know what I mean.
Again - well done on the work - I'm sure it's going to be incredibly valuable to many who watch, listen and learn!
