Today I received a very, very, very light envelope at the studio. It was from a company called Syncreon Technology, but I was pretty sure they were my Apple order details on the label.
Now I was hoping that my anticipated version of OS X Snow Leopard had arrived, as we have had a bank holiday here in the UK and there is no business post here to the studio office on Saturdays.
So very patient I have been and upon arriving was very surprised to see a manila padded envelope, ironically branded 'featherpost' with a very official business label slapped on to the front of it. On picking it up it so light and flexible that I was a little surprised and upon opening it, even more so. As inside the only thing it contained was air and that was it.
Now I know that the install for Snow Leopard is supposed to be light, and I know the MacBook Air is stunningly light, but I was rather impressed that the Snow Leopard I received weighed in at nothing at all and had been packaged in a 'featherpost' product.
Sadly after opening the package, all of my Macs were still running plain old Leopard. So I gues it wasn't
another one of Jobs' wonder products let out in to the wild... ;-)
On the label was a return address, so I looked them up on Google, rang the support number and was even more surprised when I was asked to provide my Dell order or customer number before being transferred to a human. I only have Macs here...
After letting the options time out, a human picked up and once again asked me for my Dell number - After explaining I had no Dell products, I enquired whether they looked after Apple too as I was expecting a delivery from them - At which point he gave me a number to call - Which turned out to be the Apple Store.
Some very polite and helpful French chap then confirmed my details and has issued a new delivery via courier straight away - Now that's the Apple I know.
So fingers crossed, in a few days I can get my hands on this zippiness that the Snow Leopard team are so proud of.
